Guitars

This is my main guitar at the moment, it is a Kay K-550 Double Dove - It's the first guitar I ever bought online, I spent £100 on it (the most i've ever spent out of my own money on a guitar so far). I love it very much it takes pride of place at the moment.
This is my 12-String. It's an Eko Chitarra, and it's rare because it has the original inlaid headstock. It was my christmas present a few years ago, from facebook marketplace. My only issue with this guy is the damage and the smell, the previous owner did a number on him. He's in safe hands now <3
This guitar was my first ever steel string acoustic, and I bought it from the flea market ages ago, I was like 7. This guitar is probably the reason I became obsessed with flea markets. However, I use this one less, because it stay in standard tuning.
Perhaps the least used instrument in my collection is this 'Vintage' electric guitar. I got it towards the start of my time learning guitar, in the stage where you think electric guitars are really cool, nowadays i prefer acoustic because they sound nicer and require less setup.
This is my Hohner MW-300, and it's a alright guitar. It sounds lovely, but I got it for £10 (at the flea market) and it's worth that, it's got water damage and it has a loose brace. It was perfectly fine until I got my Kay K-550 then I realised what I could be playing haha.
My Bass was handed down to me because my Dad had a midlife crisis and decided he wanted to try and learn but he gave up so I got to have it. I needed one actually, I would steal it while he was out anyway. I do wish someone else in my family was musical tho.
This is a invaluable guitar I painted back in 2024 because I was going insane and I wanted to customize someting. This is what I used when recording my song 'Everything I could be'.

Other String Instruments

My most recent purchase, a Balalaika. It's fun to play and it was only £25 (from the flea market once again). Not much use for recording but fun to have and very pretty!
My first Mandolin, a Tanglewood - it's a modern instrument but It does the job. One of the few instruments I bought from New rather then second hand. I use this fairly regularly for recording.
My Banjo! Love this guy. Probably handmade somewhere in the 19th century (obviously the skin is new). Sounds great, Plays great - no complaints. I accidentally snapped the 5th string tuner so I need to replace that, such a shame.
A Bowed Psaltry - This instrument is from 1800s Germany and, as the name suggests, you play it with a bow. The actual one I have, however, is probably modern made. It sounds amazing, looks amazing but only has use for recording in the background unfortunately.
My mountain dulcimer, a more expensive one but then again it's very rare to find in the UK. I spent £100 (from the flea market) but I don't regret a thing. Unfortunately, the nut was made of soft wood and started breaking, so I'm currently working on replacing that.
Now we're getting to the real bargains. This is an 1800s autoharp, it came with the case and original tuner - you don't see these often. I got it for £25 because I guess the guy just didn't want to carry it anymore lmao. Again, not much use for recording but if I'm just playing for fun, it's great.
This is a Box Zither / Lap Harp - it was probably handmade fairly recently. I just wanted something with open strings that I could tune to whatever i want as a layer. It was £8, guess where I got it...... correct the flea market haha.
Sad story for this one. This is a stunning Bowlback Mandolin I got for £25, but sadly it's non-functional. I forgot to check if the neck was straight and long story short it wasn't. I don't want to risk damaging this instrument by doing intrusive repairs so It's cursed to torment me as decor.
Isn't this guy just the cutest thing you've ever seen. This is a Keech Banjolele, probably made sometime in the 1930s. It was a birthhday present from my Grandad - you'll never guess where he got it......
If we're talking bargains, this is the top tier. It was free - I happened to say I wanted a Violin to a friend and somehow their Dad agreed to give me his old one for free - Bows, Case and all. Crazy. This one took a little learning but I can get a note out of it.

Wind Instruments

Speaking of free things, this saxophone was also completely free. It came from a friend of my Mum who was clearing out her attic and found her old instruments. Pretty cool and fun to play, I used it a lot in my album 'Hymns For A Dying Pigeon'.
A clarinet from the same person's attic. I find this easier then the saxophone, i think the fingerings are easier to understand. I've used this more then usual on my upcoming album ;-)
Here's one that can't stand, and funny enough I can't stand it either - the flute. THIS SHIT IS SO HARD. Floutists how the fuck are you doing that - I can get notes out sometimes. I need to work on learning this guy.
Another weird one, these are Malaysian instruments called Sompotons. I have two, but the other one is in a box that I don't wanna open. They sound pretty haunting but they have no use for recording because the reeds are out of tune. They're from the flea market once again. I think I paid £15 for 2?
It's a Didgeridoo. My Aunt bought it for me for my birthday and it's suprisingly fun to play, although it has absolutely zero use for recording because there's no real way to control the notes. I could use it as an intro one day if i feel brave.

Keyboard Instruments

This is a little Yamaha PSS-50. I got it from a charity shop a while back, I can't remember what I paid. It has some cool old sounding presets - what more could you want.
My second chord organ, a Bontempi B1. It is very old (probably 80s) and very out of tune, so no use for recording unless I tune down to match it (annoying), but it sounds lovely.
Another chord organ, another Bontempi - it's a bontempi 9. This guy is great, again it's very out of tune but it's not too far away from 440hz so it's ok. This is actually my second one of this exact model. I got another one because my first one was missing keys. First one £10, Second one £20 (Flea)
I guess this counts as a keyboard instrument (it's a free-reed aerophone technically, wink wink). I got this guy for £40 at the flea market (obviously) and i love him. Perfectly in tune suprisingly and fairly easy to play. Chefs kisses all around.
A Stylophone, I got it a while back because I fell for the hype. It doesn't really live up to it. It's a cool novelty item but for anything else it's sub-par.
I love this one, It's a Korg Volca Keys. It was a christmas present back in 2023 or 24, I forget. Anyway, it's amazing and very fun. I used this loads on my album '45'.
This is my big electric Keyboard, it was a gift from my grandad ages ago. Ignore the state of my room btw, how do you expect it to be clean look at how much shit I have. Anyway, it gets the job done for practice - I'd love a real Acoustic Piano though (No space!!!)

Percussion Instruments

This is my army Snare Drum, I got it for £20 at the Flea (I think it was £20, it could've been more). It doesn't really sound like a Snare because the wire is a bit loose with age, but I use it as a sort of Tom, I guess, and it does alright. I don't use a lot of percussion on my songs to be honest.
This Ride Cymbal is from a charity shop and I spent £15 on it - such a great price even though I don't have the stand, I use a mouldable guitar hanger and hang it from my bed and it works fine!
I was very lucky to get this Kick Drum for free because my Dad is a Builder and he was working for a school who was throwing these away. I could've had a bigger one, and a better brand but I genuinley have no space. Woo-hoo look at me, Mr Self Control!
It's a tamborine. No clue where i got it from I think it just turned up one day. It did used to have the head on it but i took it off. Pretty useful nonetheless.
This counts, right? I'm pretty sure it does. A handmade Xylophone from the Flea Market for £20 who's going to pass on it. Probably everyone else. Except me.

I have too much shit and I do not care! Advice for you to take: Never miss a Flea Market!!
